Rapido Trains UK model 989001 is a 1:76 (OO gauge) replica of Great Northern Railway tank No. 1020, painted in the original lined‑green livery. The locomotive is a highly detailed 4‑4‑2 “Atlantic” tank, featuring a tall chimney, dome, as‑built safety valves, square‑edged tanks, parallel buffers, a plain smokebox door and a museum‑quality paint finish. It is fitted with an ESU E24 DCC decoder socket, MoPower stay‑alive capacitors, factory‑installed speakers, sprung buffers, NEM 363 coupler pockets at the front and 362 at the rear, and a die‑cast running board. Additional details such as varied chimneys, domes, valve types, bunker shapes, condensing pipes and coal‑rail designs are offered across the range.

The model is designed for operation on 2nd‑radius curves of 438 mm (approximately 18 in) or greater and includes a dynamic firebox flicker with a realistic fire‑draw effect. Its smooth and powerful mechanism, combined with the pre‑fitted DCC equipment, provides reliable performance for both layout enthusiasts and collectors.

Historically the prototype was part of the GNR C2 class introduced in 1898 for local passenger work in the West Riding of Yorkshire. The class was reclassified as LNER C12 after the 1923 grouping, served across the Eastern region, and the last member was withdrawn in December 1958, with none preserved. This Rapido rendition offers a faithful, pre‑grouping representation of that extinct locomotive class.
