Rapido Trains UK’s LNER C12 4‑4‑2 tank locomotive (No 1519) is a 1:76 scale (OO gauge) model supplied with DCC sound capability. The product carries the manufacturer part number 989505 and is fitted with an ESU E24 DCC decoder socket, MoPower stay‑alive capacitors, factory‑installed speakers and a dynamic firebox flicker effect. It runs on 2nd‑radius curves of 438 mm or larger and includes NEM‑363 coupler pockets at the front and NEM‑362 at the rear.

The model represents the former Great Northern Railway C2 class, re‑designated C12 after the 1923 LNER grouping. It is available in a range of liveries covering pre‑grouping, grouping and nationalisation periods, with variations in chimney, dome, safety valves, tank corners, bunker shape and condensing equipment. For versions with condensing apparatus, brass destination plates are supplied for attachment to destination board brackets.

Key physical features include a short chimney and dome, as‑built safety valves, round tank edges, tapered buffers, a plain smokebox door, sprung buffers and a museum‑quality paint finish. The locomotive is built for smooth and powerful operation, with a die‑cast running board and highly detailed parts; no two examples share an identical selection of components.

Historically, the original locomotives were built between 1898 and 1907 for local passenger services in the West Riding of Yorkshire, later serving on the Metropolitan Widened Lines and various LNER districts before the last member was withdrawn in 1958. The Rapido model revives this extinct class, offering collectors and model railway enthusiasts a detailed and operable representation of the LNER C12 tank engine.
