Manufacturer description

BR’s standard 25kV AC electric locomotive of the late-1960s, developed using experience gained with the earlier β€˜AL1’ to β€˜AL5’ classes. A handful of β€˜86s’ remain in use today both in the UK and overseas. This latest variant features a number of improvements over our previous Class 86s, including separately switchable tail lights in DCC mode. It focuses on the previously overlooked mixed traffic β€˜86/4’ and freight-only β€˜86/6’ sub-classes modified from the mid-1980s onwards.

Models are supplied with either a Faiveley (*) or Brecknell Willis high-speed (+) pantograph.

The Heljan Class 86 locomotive in BR Blue SYP livery is a model of a British Rail electric locomotive. The locomotive is modelled as E3101, a prototype built in 1965-1966 by British Rail's Doncaster Works and English Electric at Vulcan Foundry. The model represents the 'AL6' variant of the Class 86, which was a standard 25kV AC electric locomotive used by BR for passenger and freight services from the 1960s to the 1980s.

The model features a 21-pin DCC interface, working lights, NEM couplings and sprung buffers. It is designed to run on a minimum radius curve of 2 and has power pickup on all wheels. The model is DCC ready and has a tension lock coupling.
