Manufacturer description

BR’s standard 25kV AC electric locomotive of the late-1960s, developed using experience gained with the earlier ‘AL1’ to ‘AL5’ classes. A handful of ‘86s’ remain in use today both in the UK and overseas. This latest variant features a number of improvements over our previous Class 86s, including separately switchable tail lights in DCC mode. It focuses on the previously overlooked mixed traffic ‘86/4’ and freight-only ‘86/6’ sub-classes modified from the mid-1980s onwards.

Models are supplied with either a Faiveley (*) or Brecknell Willis high-speed (+) pantograph.

The Heljan Class 86/2 86260 Anglia Railways Electric Locomotive is a model of a British Rail Class 86 locomotive. It represents the 86/2 sub-class, which is a variant of the standard 25kV AC electric locomotive developed by British Rail in the 1960s. This particular model features improvements over previous Class 86 models, including separately switchable tail lights in DCC mode.

The model is built to replicate the appearance of an Anglia Railways locomotive, a privatised rail operator that began operating in the UK in the 1990s. The model is DCC ready, with a 21-pin socket, and is designed for use on curves with a minimum radius of 2. It features a number of detailed components, including finely applied livery details and a smooth running motor and flywheel.

The model also includes a number of operational features, such as NEM couplings, working lights, and sprung buffers. It is sound ready and is available with either a Faiveley or Brecknell Willis high-speed pantograph. Other models of the Class 86 in different liveries are also available for purchase.

The specifications of the model include an operator of Anglia Railways, a class of 86, a running number of 86 260, and a livery of Anglia Railies.
