Manufacturer description
A small class of diesel-electric shunters built by Ruston & Hornsby to work in and around Southampton Docks, replacing the famous 'USA' 0-6-0T steam locomotives. After withdrawal in the late-1970s, several were sold for industrial use around the UK.

The Heljan Class 07 (V1) BR Green Locomotive D2998 is a model of a diesel locomotive built by Ruston & Hornsby in Lincoln in 1962. This 0-6-0 locomotive was one of 14 produced for British Railways, which operated it for a decade before it was withdrawn in May 1973.
The model is DCC ready, with a six-pin socket, and features a minimum radius curve of 1, a length of 105mm, and all-wheel power pickup. It is coupled with an NEM/Tension lock coupling and has a British Railways green livery with a coaching stock roundel. The model is also available in other liveries, including British Army green and industrial versions.
The Heljan model is part of a series that includes two previous production runs since 2018, and demand remains strong for versions representing British Railways, industrial, and preserved locomotives. The model is also available in a British Army green version, inspired by similar locomotives used on internal railways such as the Bicester Military Railway.
