Manufacturer description

A small class of diesel-electric shunters built by Ruston & Hornsby to work in and around Southampton Docks, replacing the famous 'USA' 0-6-0T steam locomotives. After withdrawal in the late-1970s, several were sold for industrial use around the UK.

Heljan Class 07 (V1) D2992 is a British Railways‑liveried OO‑scale die‑cast model of a diesel‑electric shunter. The locomotive is presented in the pre‑TOPS BR blue livery with the distinctive ‘Wasp’ stripe, a pristine finish and a working 6‑pin DCC socket. It carries the original running number D2992 and is fitted with NEM couplings, sprung buffers, directional lighting and all‑wheel power pickup.

The model represents the British Rail Class 07, a small fleet of 14 diesel shunters built by Ruston & Hornsby, Lincoln, between 1962 and 1977. The real locomotives were 0‑6‑0 wheel arrangement dock shunters used around Southampton Docks, with a maximum speed of 20 mph and a service life of ten years before withdrawal in May 1973. The replica measures 105 mm in length, has a minimum curve radius of 371 mm (1st radius), and is designed for the British OO gauge.
