Heljan Class 07 - 2989 is a OO gauge model of a British Rail Class 07 diesel‑electric shunter, finished in BR blue. The locomotive is DCC ready with a 6‑pin socket and fitted with NEM couplings, sprung buffers, working lights and power pickup from all wheels. It represents the original 0‑6‑0 shunter built by Ruston & Hornsby in 1962 for dock shunting around Southampton, of which only fourteen were produced.
The model measures 105 mm in length, has a minimum curve radius of 371 mm (first radius), a maximum speed of 20 mph and bears the running number 2989. Directional lighting is included, but no sound facilities are fitted due to size constraints. Heljan recommends the RoS‑6D decoder for DCC fitting.
The prototype served British Rail from 1962 until withdrawal in 1977, after which several were sold for industrial use. This example represents the pre‑TOPS British Rail blue era. The manufacturer part number is 2914.
