Class 26 025 Railfreight Red Stripe with ED Westie Logo
The Heljan OO gauge Class 26 diesel locomotive is a new model that fills a gap in the fleet. It represents a locomotive in Railfreight Red Stripe livery, with a running number of 26 038. The model is DCC ready, with a 21-pin socket, and features all-wheel power pickup and NEM/Tension lock coupling.
The new model has a number of features, including separately switchable headlights, marker/tail lights, cab and engine room interior lights. It also has a 21-pin DCC interface with a removable hatch in the roof, and plug-and-play DCC sound capability. The model has been upgraded with new details to bring it up to the latest standards.
The initial release will feature two models, one in typical 1970s condition and one in mid-1980s condition, both with Inverness depot 'Highland Rail' emblem. The models will also feature early style circular radio pods. In addition to the initial release, Heljan plans to produce a range of upgraded Class 26/1s covering the entire BR career of the BRCW Type 2s from the late-1950s to withdrawal in 1993.
