Heljan’s OO‑scale model reproduces British Rail Class 26 locomotive D5335, named W.P. Allen. The kit is supplied in British Rail green with full yellow ends, fitted with a DCC‑ready 8‑pin socket and a plastic‑and‑metal chassis. Couplings are tension‑lock type mounted in NEM pockets, and the model can negotiate a minimum radius of 2 inches.
The prototype locomotive was built by the Birmingham Railway Carriage & Wagon Company in August 1948. A Sulzer‑powered diesel‑electric, it had a Bo‑Bo wheel arrangement, a tractive effort of 42 000 lbf and was used for mixed‑traffic duties on British Railways. A total of 47 units were produced between 1958 and 1959, and they remained in service until 1994. The model represents the early crest era of British Railways.
