Prototype Eras
Era 6 (1967 to 1972) British Rail Blue (Pre-TOPS)
Era 7 (1972 to 1982) British Rail Blue (TOPS)
The class 121 and 122 (also known as "Bubble Cars") formed part of the first generation of British DMU's. These units were designed to run on branch lines and secondary routes and were ideal for stations that were not able to have run-round loops due to space.
The class 121 units were built in 1960 by Pressed Steel and the class 122 were built in 1958 by Gloucester RC& W. Lots of these units are still in preservation.
* Class names often change over the lifespan of a locomotive, so this is not necessarily the class name used by the operator in the period modelled.

Class 122 Bubble Car #55002 Blue & Grey livery
The Dapol Class 122 55003 model represents a British Rail Class 122 diesel multiple unit locomotive. This OO gauge model is finished in BR Blue livery and features directional lighting, etched grills, and finely printed external logos and numbering. The model is equipped with a coreless motor for smooth operation and all-wheel drive and pick up.
The Class 122 was one of the first generations of British diesel multiple units, designed for branch lines and secondary routes. Built by Gloucester RC&W in 1958, a total of 29 units were produced. The model is accurate for the period represented by British Rail Blue (Pre-TOPS), with an Era 6 specification from 1967 to 1971.
Key features of the model include a finely moulded body, cast wheels, and a tungsten chassis. The model also includes a spares bag with additional detailing parts. The locomotive is DCC fitted and can be further enhanced with a Soundtraxx STX882106 diesel sound decoder, which requires a speaker. The model is suitable for use on 2 rail DCC track and has a minimum radius curve of Radius 2.
