The class 121 and 122 (also known as "Bubble Cars") formed part of the first generation of British DMU's. These units were designed to run on branch lines and secondary routes and were ideal for stations that were not able to have run-round loops due to space.

The class 121 units were built in 1960 by Pressed Steel and the class 122 were built in 1958 by Gloucester RC& W. Lots of these units are still in preservation.

Dapol Class 122 55012 Loadhaul (Rt Learn) diesel locomotive is DCC fitted and supplied in a pristine black and orange finish. The model carries the running number 55012, represents British Rail sectorisation, and is based on a unit built in 1958 by Gloucester RCW, of which 29 were produced. It is intended to operate on a minimum radius curve of 2, with power pickup from all wheels and NEM/Tension‑lock couplings, and is capable of a top speed of 70 mph.

The 00‑scale model includes a finely moulded body with etched grills, directional lighting and accurately printed external logos and numbers. Cast wheels are supplied in the appropriate livery colour, and a tungsten chassis supports a coreless motor for smoother operation.
