Manufacturer description

The class 121 and 122 (also known as "Bubble Cars") formed part of the first generation of British DMU's. These units were designed to run on branch lines and secondary routes and were ideal for stations that were not able to have run-round loops due to space.

The class 121 units were built in 1960 by Pressed Steel and the class 122 were built in 1958 by Gloucester RC& W. Lots of these units are still in preservation.

Dapol Class 122 “Bubble Car” model, running number SC55013, is an OO‑scale replica of a British Rail Class 122 diesel multiple unit in British Rail Blue livery. The model is finished in pristine condition, is DCC ready with a 21‑pin socket, and includes both interior and directional lighting. Power is collected from all wheels, and it operates on a minimum radius of 2 inches. Coupling is provided by NEM with a tension lock.

The model reproduces the original 1958‑1958 built unit (29 were produced) and features a finely moulded body with etched grills, cast wheels in the correct colour, a tungsten chassis and a coreless motor for smooth running. It also comes with a spares bag containing additional detailing parts. The unit is marked with the British Rail Class 122 designation, a maximum speed of 70 mph, and the manufacturer part number 4D‑015‑004.
