Cavalex Models Class 56 Triple‑Grey construction No 56052 is a die‑cast diesel locomotive representing the British Rail sectorisation era between 1988 and 1993. The model carries the Construction Sub‑sector livery and features rubber‑sealed cab front windows, steel cab side windows and diamond‑mesh side, cantrail and roof grilles.

The locomotive incorporates a 21‑pin DCC interface with a removable panel that permits easy installation of a DCC chip and provides dip‑switch control for DC users, giving full access to DCC lighting functions without removal from the track. Lighting is independently controlled for parked, yard, light‑engine and on‑train modes, with realistic brightness levels and colour matching the prototype.

Construction details include photo‑etched grilles on the sides, roof and cantrail, and a highly detailed underframe with numerous separate parts. Bogies are built from multiple mouldings rather than a single piece, allowing proper detail relief. The cab interior is fully detailed with printed dials and decorated full‑depth fittings.

Sound is supplied by a factory‑fitted ESU speaker and a custom‑recorded sound project, with hall‑sensor technology that automatically produces flange squeal on sharp curves. Power is delivered by a 5‑pole motor with twin flywheels, a low‑ratio gearbox and a power bank, while floating centre axles provide smooth road‑holding.

The model can be supplied with drop‑in wheelsets for conversion to EM and P4 gauge trackwork. Both standard and revised cantrail grill options are available, and etched name plates are fitted to correspond with the individual prototype.
