Manufacturer description

More new tooling brings the Scammell Highwayman, which was Scammell's 4 x 2 motive unit. The vehicle took on the Highwayman name after Scammell was absorbed into the Leyland Group in the 1950s. Power steering was introduced to the vehicle in 1961. The Oxford replica is based on the version that Scammell produced between 1961 and 1968, which featured a fibreglass cab with wraparound windscreen. This model recreates the vehicle used extensively by Wynns Heavy Haulage, whose transport tales of hauling behemoth loads are legendary. The tooling also enables the release of the model as a ballast tractor and wrecker in the not too distant future.

Oxford Diecast Scammell Highwayman Low Loader Wynns – 1:76 scale. Manufacturer part number 76SH001. The model represents the British Railways Late Crest period.

The replica is based on the Scammell Highwayman 4x2 motive unit produced between 1 January 1961 and 31 December 1968. During this time the vehicle featured a fibreglass cab with a wraparound windscreen and power steering, which was introduced in 1961. The name Highwayman was adopted after Scammell was incorporated into the Leyland Group in the 1950s. This particular version recreates the low‑loader used extensively by Wynns Heavy Haulage.

The new tooling used for this model also allows future releases as a ballast tractor and as a wrecker.
