Manufacturer description

For variety, how about the Oxford Diecast Borough of Barry Scarab vehicle. After the end of the Second World War, Scammell Lorries looked at the Mechanical Horse, which was basically unchanged from its 1934 design, realised that something more modern was called for and set about re-designing the vehicle. Later Scammell offered diesel engines. These were the Perkins 4-199 for 3-ton and P4 and P4203 for six ton. The low mounting of the engine and other design changes made the Scarab more stable and its rounded all steel cab was more comfortable for drivers. The Scarab lasted in production until 1967. Order a diecast Borough of Barry Scarab today and increase your collection.

Oxford Diecast Borough of Barry Scarab – 1:76 Scale

The model is supplied by Oxford Diecast under part number 76RAB004. It is a 1:76 scale die‑cast representation of the Scammell Scarab vehicle used in the Borough of Barry, depicting the British Railways early crest era. The vehicle features the low‑mounted Perkins diesel engine typical of the post‑war Scarab, with a rounded all‑steel cab and a realistic chassis. Production of the original Scarab continued until 1967, and the die‑cast model reflects the design changes introduced after the Second World War.
