Prototype Era
Era 5 (1956 to 1966) British Railways Late Crest
A 650 hp diesel- hydraulic design built by BR's Western Region to replace the legendary GWR Pannier Tanks. However, the type found little work with BR and many ended up with the National Coal Board and British Steel, or even sold abroad.
* Class names often change over the lifespan of a locomotive, so this is not necessarily the class name used by the operator in the period modelled.

The Heljan model of the Class 14 diesel locomotive in Two Tone Green livery is a detailed representation of the real-life locomotive D9545. This model features a weathered finish and is DCC ready with an 8-pin socket. It has a minimum radius curve of 2 and power pickup on all wheels. The locomotive is coupled using a NEM/Tension lock coupling.
The real-life Class 14 was a 0-6-0 diesel locomotive built by British Railways at Swindon between 1964 and 1965. A total of 56 locomotives were produced, with the last one being withdrawn in April 1968 after just two years of service. The model represents the locomotive in its BR Late Crest period.
The Class 14 locomotive has gained a cult following over the years, with strong demand for models in various liveries. Several new versions are reportedly in preparation, including a Western Region ballast train pack featuring four 'Dogfish' hoppers.
