Manufacturer description

A 650 hp diesel- hydraulic design built by BR's Western Region to replace the legendary GWR Pannier Tanks. However, the type found little work with BR and many ended up with the National Coal Board and British Steel, or even sold abroad.

The Heljan model of the Class 14 0-6-0 diesel locomotive is a representation of a locomotive built by British Railways between 1964 and 1965. A total of 56 of these locomotives were produced, with the model featuring a Light Green livery and the running number 144-8 (D9524). The model is DCC ready, with an 8-pin socket, and has a minimum radius curve requirement of 2. It features a 0-6-0 wheel arrangement and is powered by diesel.

The Class 14 0-6-0 locomotives were built at the British Railways Swindon works and were primarily used by British Rail. The model represents the locomotive in British Rail Blue (TOPS) livery, which was used during its time in service. The locomotives were withdrawn from service in May 1969, after a relatively short period of just four years.

The model is available with a variety of liveries, including industrial and preserved versions, which are proving to be popular with modellers. Further updates to the model are expected in 2022.
