Heljan Class 14 National Coal Board Ashington No 4 is a ready‑to‑run OO gauge model in the NCB blue livery. The locomotive is finished in pristine condition, carries the running number 4 and is fitted with an 8‑pin DCC socket. Coupling is to the NEM standard, directional lighting is fitted and power is picked up by all wheels.
The prototype was a British Rail Class 14 diesel, built at Swindon by British Railways between 1964 and 1965. Only 56 of the class were produced. It had a 0‑6‑0 wheel arrangement, a maximum speed of 40 mph and was withdrawn in May 1969 after four years of service. The model represents the late‑crest period of British Railways and has a minimum radius curve of 371 mm (first radius).
