Dapol's 5 Plank Wagon features a 9' wheelbase design, ideal for OO gauge model railway enthusiasts. The model measures 73mm in length, 33mm in width, and 33mm in height. The wagon is designed to represent the pre-grouping era, a period in British railway history prior to the formation of the Big Four railway companies.

The real-life 5 plank wagon was a common goods wagon, with tens of thousands built between 1910 and the early 1930s. These wagons were initially low-sided, but as steam engine power increased, so did the capacity of the wagons. The 5 plank wagon was a staple of British railways, carrying a 10-ton load.

The Dapol model is highly detailed, with profiled wheels, accurately applied livery, and a highly detailed body moulding. The model features NEM pockets with self-centring couplings, allowing for easy connection to other models.
