Accurascale has announced a new OO gauge model of the Class 50 diesel locomotive in BR Blue Large Logo livery, with DCC sound. The model features a die-cast metal chassis, RP25-110 profile OO wheels, and separately-applied etched metal and plastic details. It also includes a working radiator fan, flange squeal sensor, and a full lighting package with auto-off feature. The model is DCC ready and can be fitted with a factory-fitted DCC sound unit.

The Class 50 was a class of 50 diesel-electric locomotives built by English Electric at Vulcan Foundry between 1967 and 1968. They were initially allocated to Crewe and were used on passenger and parcels services between Crewe and Glasgow, as well as trains to Blackpool, Liverpool, and Manchester. The class developed a huge following in the 1980s and many enthusiasts developed intense bonds with individual locomotives.

The Accurascale model is the third and final member of their English Electric six-axle trio, following the Class 55 and Class 37 models. It has been extensively tooled to include a wide range of details and features, including multiple working equipment, handrails, and different headcode options. The model is available with a DCC sound unit, which includes a twin-speaker setup, working radiator fan, and flange squeal sensor.

The Class 50 was a significant class of locomotives that operated on the British Rail network from the late 1960s to the early 1990s. They were known for their reliability issues and were eventually replaced by newer locomotives. However, a number of the class have been preserved and are still in operation today.
