Accurascale has announced the OO gauge Class 50 'Thunderer' diesel locomotive, the third and final model in their English Electric six-axle trio. This model is DCC sound-fitted and features a highly detailed OO scale representation of the Class 50, with a die-cast metal chassis and RP25-110 profile OO wheels.

The model is based on the Hanson and Hall Rail Solutions livery and is designed to be compatible with a minimum radius curve of 438mm (2nd radius set-track). It features separately-applied etched metal and plastic detail parts, including grab handles, steps, and wipers, as well as scale width wire handrails and etched metal pre-painted nameplates and crests.

The Class 50 is a highly detailed model with a full underframe tank, battery box, and compressor detail, along with extensive pipework and other separate parts. It also features fully sprung buffers, super-fine pipework, and screw couplings for display, as well as kinetic NEM coupler mounts and mini-tension-lock couplers.

The model is DCC ready and can be fitted with a factory-fitted DCC sound system, which includes a five-pole motor with two flywheels, a metal helical gearbox, and a gearing system that allows the locomotive to achieve a minimum scale top speed of 125mph. The model also features all wheel drive and all wheel pickup, as well as a fully detailed lighting pack with directional lighting, DC and DCC, switchable red and white marker lights, and separately switched cab lighting and illuminated driver's desk.
