The Rapido BR 15xx No.1506 model is a OO gauge representation of a British Railways steam locomotive. The model is built in die-cast metal and features high quality motor and mechanism. It is fitted with a Next18 decoder socket, allowing for easy installation of a DCC sound decoder.
The locomotive is accurately modelled in unlined black livery with no crest, as it would have appeared during the early years of British Railways. The model features a range of separately fitted details, including buffers and other small components. It also includes NEM coupler pockets and sprung buffers for smooth and realistic operation.
The BR 15xx class was a series of 0-6-0PT steam locomotives built by British Railways at Swindon in September 1949. A total of 10 locomotives were produced, with No.1506 being one of them. The class was designed by Frederick Hawksworth and was originally ordered by the Great Western Railway before being taken over by British Railways. The locomotives were withdrawn from service in December 1963, after a 14-year period of operation.
