The Rapido BR 15xx model number 1501 is a OO gauge representation of a preserved British Railways 0-6-0PT pannier tank locomotive. This model is part of the BR 15xx collection and is finished in lined black with the early crest emblem.
The model is based on the preserved locomotive as seen on the Severn Valley Railway. It features a die-cast metal construction, a high-quality motor and mechanism, and a Next18 decoder socket for DCC operation. Additional details include a NEM coupler pocket and sprung buffers, adding to the model's realism.
The real-life locomotive, number 1501, was built in July 1949 at the Swindon works by British Railways and was one of only 10 of its class. It was withdrawn from service in January 1961, after just 11 years of operation with British Railways. The model accurately represents the locomotive's period, which falls within the British Railways Early Crest era.
