Class A1X Terrier 0-6-0T 32635 Brighton Works in BR LBSCR-style improved engine green
Hornby K&ESRâs âTerrierâ model represents the London, Brighton & South Coast Railway A1X class 0â6â0T locomotive NoâŻ5, named Rolvenden. The model is part of EraâŻ2, finished in pristine condition with a blue livery, and measures 105âŻmm in length. It carries the manufacturer part number R3781 and is supplied with a 6âpin DCCâready socket.
The locomotive is powered by a threeâpole skewâwound motor and draws power from all wheels. It runs on a minimum radius curve of 371âŻmm (first radius) and uses NEM/tensionâlock couplings. The model is designed for the Kent & East Sussex Railway (K&ESR) and is fully compatible with DCC systems.
Historically the prototype was built at Brighton Works between 1872 and 1880 to a design by William Stroudley, with 17 examples produced. It operated under steam in the preâgrouping era and was originally employed by the London, Brighton & South Coast Railway before later service on the Kent & East Sussex Railway.
