The Heljan Class 47 329 Departmental General Grey Diesel Locomotive is a highly detailed OO gauge model. The model measures 270mm in length and features a Departmental grey livery. It is DCC fitted with sound and has interior lighting. The model is designed for use on curves with a minimum radius of 3.

The Class 47 locomotive was one of the most mass produced in the British Rail fleet, with 512 built between 1962 and 1968. They were used for passenger services in the Western region. The model features a powerful 5-pole, twin shaft motor and a diecast metal chassis block. It has a four axle drive with a 'floating' middle axle for smooth riding qualities.

The model has a highly detailed bogie and underframe area, with original water/fuel tanks, battery boxes, and extended range fuel tanks and battery boxes. It also features 9 different cab end designs, allowing for the production of specific locomotives. The model has authentic ride height and features original or 'cutaway' bufferbeam assemblies.

The lighting functions on the model include directional headcode panel and tail lights, separately switchable Cab interior lights, engine room lights, and tail lights. It also features a playable braking function when the locomotive is in motion and a 'Heavy Load' function for extra 'thrash'.

The model is DCC ready and comes with a factory fitted ESU LokSound V5 decoder. It features two high-quality speakers encased in a bespoke sound enclosure for optimum sound reproduction. The model includes two super-realistic Class 47 sound projects, featuring different sound recordings for Class 47/0 and ETH-fitted Class 47/4s. It also includes 19 authentic sound functions, including Spirax air dump valve, compressor, cooling fans, wipers, sanders, AWS bell and buzzer.

The model features minutely researched and applied liveries, based on archive photos and comments provided by acknowledged Class 47 experts. It has multiple paint applications and logos, numerals, and text added using multi-stage tampo printing. The model's wheel faces are painted to eliminate a toy-like shiny effect.
