The locomotive features a highly detailed body and underframe, with precision gearboxes and OO gauge finescale wheels.

The model has a powerful 5-pole, twin shaft motor and features four axle drive with a 'floating' middle axle for smooth riding qualities. The locomotive has a minimum radius curve requirement of 2nd Radius (438mm) and features directional lighting, interior lighting, and a detailed interior. The model also features a range of lighting functions, including separately switchable cab interior lights, engine room lights, and tail lights.

The model comes with a range of features, including a detachable coupling pocket, sprung finescale buffers, and beautifully decorated bufferbeam pipework and cables. The model also features over 150 separate parts, including handrails, etched fan grilles, and finely detailed three-piece miniature snowploughs.

The Class 47 is one of the most mass-produced locomotives in the BR fleet, with over 500 built between 1962 and 1968. They were used in the Western region for passenger services and can still be seen running on special services today. The model is designed to represent the locomotives of this era and features authentic details, including original and 'cutaway' bufferbeam assemblies, body-mounted or bufferbeam-mounted ETH equipment, and single arm or pantograph windscreen wipers.

The model is available with a range of options, including different cab end designs, original or 'life extended' style cabs, and options for ScotRail and Rail express systems Class 47/7s. The model also features highly detailed and decorated cab interiors, authentic pipework detail visible in engine room windows, and separately applied metal detail parts.
