Accurascale has released a pack of three 4T 'Black Waggons' in the livery of the Seaham Dock Co. The wagons are in three different body styles, representative of those used in the 1950s. Each wagon is numbered 37, 27, and 28, and features a pristine finish.
The wagons are designed to operate on OO gauge track and are capable of navigating minimum radius curves of 371mm. They are built with a die-cast metal chassis and a plastic body, with a total weight of 9g when unloaded.
The pack is part of a larger series of NER 4T Chaldron wagons, with each pack themed around a specific colliery. The wagons are based on photographic evidence and colliery records to ensure accurate lettering styles.
The wagons feature a range of detailed parts, including eroded metal and plastic details, scale width wire handrails, and metal pin jaw couplings. They are connected via a link fine chain with Neodymium magnetic heads, and two extra NEM fitted magnetic couplings are supplied to allow for fitting to locomotives and additional rolling stock.
The artwork on the wagons features authentic colliery markings and numbers, based on actual photographic evidence where possible. The manufacturer has also received research assistance from various institutions, including the Beamish Living Museum, Bowes Railway, and the North Eastern Railway Association.
The wagons are suitable for use in model railways representing the Big Four era, which includes the London and North Eastern Railway, London, Midland and Scottish Railway, Great Western Railway, and Southern Railway.
