Accurascale has released a new pack of three OO gauge 4T 'Black Waggons' in the livery of Londonderry Collieries, circa 1960s. The pack includes three wagons, each with a different running number: 1833, 1641, and 650. The wagons are available in two body styles, with each one featuring a different style of wheel design, braking arrangement, and 'bang-boards'.
The wagons are built with a die-cast metal chassis and a plastic body, weighing 9g unloaded. They can operate on minimum radius curves of 371mm. The pack features a range of details, including eroded metal and plastic parts, scale width wire handrails, and metal pin jaw couplings. The wagons are connected using a link fine chain with Neodymium magnetic heads.
The pack is part of a series of wagon packs themed around different collieries, with each pack featuring wagons that are based on photographic evidence and colliery records. The artwork on the wagons includes authentic colliery markings and numbers, accurate to the time period. The pack also includes two extra NEM fitted magnetic couplings to allow for fitting to locomotives and additional rolling stock.
Accurascale has worked with a number of organisations, including the Beamish Living Museum, Bowes Railway, and the North Eastern Railway Association, to ensure the accuracy of the models. The wagons are suitable for use on British Railways Early Crest layouts, and are available in a range of body styles and wheel designs.
