Ex-S.C.C National Coal Board Chaldron Pack
Accurascale has released a pack of three Chaldron wagons, representing the Seaton Burn Coal Company, in OO gauge. The pack consists of two ex-North Eastern Railway style P1 Chaldrons and an early Sheldon-built Chaldron, dating back to circa 1902.
Each wagon is finished in pristine condition and features a unique running number: 298, 268, and 369. The wagons are designed for use on minimum radius curves of 1st radius set-track, which is a radius of 371mm.
The wagons are built with die-cast metal chassis and plastic bodies, weighing 9g unloaded. The models feature a range of details, including eroded metal and plastic parts, scale width wire handrails, and metal pin jaw couplings.
The wagons are designed to be connected using a new link fine chain with Neodymium magnetic heads and prototypical cotter pin couplings. Two extra NEM fitted magnetic couplings are also supplied to allow for fitting to locomotives and additional rolling stock.
The artwork on the wagons features authentic colliery markings and numbers, based on photographic evidence and research assistance provided by organisations such as the Beamish Living Museum, Bowes Railway, and the North Eastern Railway Association.
The pack is part of a series of Chaldron wagon sets, each themed by colliery and featuring different styles of wagons that operated together during the pioneering period of railway development.
