Ex-S.C.C National Coal Board Chaldron Pack
Accurascale has released a pack of three OO gauge S&DR style Chaldron wagons, representing the Stella Coal Co. The pack is a representation of how Chaldrons were used in service until they were no longer suitable for use.
The wagons are numbered 84, 33 and 50 and are finished in a pristine condition. The model features a die-cast metal chassis with a plastic body, weighing 9g unloaded. The wagons can operate on minimum radius curves of 371mm.
Each pack is themed around a specific colliery and the wagon designs are based on photographic evidence and records from the collieries. The wagons feature different body designs, wheel styles, and braking arrangements, as well as additional details such as grab handles and chain points.
The wagons are connected via a fine chain with Neodymium magnetic heads, and two additional NEM fitted magnetic couplings are supplied to allow for fitting to locomotives and other rolling stock. The artwork on the wagons features authentic colliery markings and numbers based on actual photographic evidence.
Accurascale has received research assistance from various organisations, including the Beamish Living Museum, the Bowes Railway, and the North Eastern Railway Association, to ensure the accuracy of the models. The pack is suitable for modellers depicting the Big Four era.
