Rapido Trains UK model 951611 is a 1:76 scale (OO gauge) representation of Great Western Railway 45xx class locomotive No. 4566, presented in the early British Railways crest livery and plain black finish as it appears in preservation during the 2020s. The model includes DCC Sound functionality, a factory‑fitted speaker and a Next18 DCC decoder socket, providing dynamic firebox flicker and fire‑draw effects.
The locomotive features a tapered chimney, superheated boiler with a long smokebox and late‑style oil pipe cover, external steam pipes, a tall safety‑valve cover with top feed, and a curved running board with Mk 3 bunker and fender. Wheels are 14‑spoke, large‑boss types with crescent‑shaped weights; the cab has a steel roof, straight rain‑strips, side shutters and no portholes. Additional details include late rocker‑arm covers, sandboxes, parallel buffers, a tall front spring cover, central boiler handrail, ATC equipment, battery boxes, sprung buffers and NEM 362 coupler pockets.
The model is supplied with MoPower Stay‑Alive capacitor, a smooth‑running mechanism and a painted brass number plate appropriate to the selected version. It accurately reflects the historical development of the 45xx class, which originated from the 44xx “Small Prairie” design introduced in 1904 and was later modified with larger wheels, superheated boilers and other improvements through the early to mid‑20th century.
