Rapido GWR 45xx No 4510 is a 1:76 scale (OO gauge) model of the Great Western Railway 45xx class 2‑6‑2T locomotive, fitted in the early British Railways crest livery with plain black finish. The model carries DCC 18, uses a Next18 decoder socket, includes factory‑installed speakers, MoPower Stay‑Alive capacitor and a dynamic firebox flicker effect. The casting features a tapered chimney, superheated boiler with long smokebox, inside steam pipes with smokebox patches, a short safety‑valve cover with top feed, 14‑spoke wheels with crescent‑shaped weights, steel cab roof with portholes plated over, cab‑side shutters, late sandboxes, rocker‑arm covers and parallel buffers with sprung buffers.

Technical details include a tapered chimney, extended straight running board with Mk3 bunker and fender, tall front spring cover, central boiler handrail, additional rivets on side tanks, ATC equipment, smooth‑running mechanism and NEM 362 coupler pockets. The model is supplied in a highly detailed kit with a painted brass number plate appropriate to the chosen version and is ready for DCC operation with a dynamic fire draw effect.

The real 45xx class originated in 1904 as the “Small Prairie”, was redesignated from 2161‑2190 to 4500‑4529 in late 1912 and built through successive batches until 1924, reaching a total of 75 members. They served the Great Western Railway and later British Railways, with the last examples withdrawn by 1964. The model represents the early‑crest British Railways appearance of locomotive No 4510 as it would have looked during its operational life.
