Manufacturer description

Introduced by the Great Northern Railway in 1921 to a design by Nigel Gresley, these powerful 2-8-0s were built to haul heavy mineral trains. Several batches were built over a 22 year period by the GNR and LNER, with numerous improvements such as better cabs and bigger tenders. Heljan's model depicts the later '02/3' and '0 2/4' variants.

The Heljan model of a London & North Eastern Railway (LNER) 02/4 locomotive is a highly detailed OO gauge representation of a wartime black 02/4 locomotive number 3479. This model features a Gresley-designed cab and a Great Northern Railway (GNR) tender.

The model is DCC ready, with a 21-pin socket and NEM couplings, allowing for smooth operation on curved tracks. The minimum radius curve required for this model is 2nd Radius, which is 438mm. The model is powered by steam and features sprung buffers for a realistic ride.

The LNER 02/4 is a 2-8-0 wheel arrangement locomotive designed by Nigel Gresley and built by the GNR/LNER Doncaster Works, North British in Glasgow. A total of 67 locomotives were produced between 1921 and 1943. The model represents the later '02/3' and '02/4' variants, which featured improved cabs and larger tenders.
