Manufacturer description

Introduced by the Great Northern Railway in 1921 to a design by Nigel Gresley, these powerful 2-8-0s were built to haul heavy mineral trains. Several batches were built over a 22 year period by the GNR and LNER, with numerous improvements such as better cabs and bigger tenders. Heljan's model depicts the later '02/3' and '0 2/4' variants.

This OO gauge model is a representation of the Heljan Class O2/2 'Tango', specifically the BR early emblem version, designated as number 63933. The model features a London & North Eastern Railway (LNER) cab and tender and is finished in British Railways black livery with the early emblem.

The model is compatible with DCC systems and features a 21-pin socket. It has a NEM coupling and is designed to operate on a minimum radius curve of 438mm, or 2nd radius. The model measures 250mm in length and has a locomotive-only power pickup.

The Class O2/2 'Tango' was a 2-8-0 steam locomotive designed by Nigel Gresley and built by the Great Northern Railway and later the LNER. A total of 67 of these locomotives were produced between 1921 and 1943, with some undergoing improvements over the years. The model represents the locomotives used by British Railways in the early days of the company, during the period of the BR early crest.
