Manufacturer description

Introduced by the Great Northern Railway in 1921 to a design by Nigel Gresley, these powerful 2-8-0s were built to haul heavy mineral trains. Several batches were built over a 22 year period by the GNR and LNER, with numerous improvements such as better cabs and bigger tenders. Heljan's model depicts the later '02/3' and '0 2/4' variants.

The Heljan Class O2/1 'Tango' locomotive model is a OO gauge representation of the London & North Eastern Railway's (LNER) 2-8-0 steam locomotive. This model is based on the later variants of the class, the '02/3' and '0 2/4', which were built between 1921 and 1943. The model features a 21 pin DCC interface, a factory-fitted speaker in the tender, and NEM couplings.

The locomotive is depicted in LNER black livery and has a low running plate and Great Northern Railway (GNR) cab and tender with a tall chimney. It has a minimum radius curve of 2nd Radius (438mm) and a length of 250mm. The model is DCC ready and has power pickup via the locomotive only.

The Class O2/1 2-8-0s were introduced by the Great Northern Railway in 1921 and were used for hauling heavy mineral trains. A total of 67 locomotives were built by the GNR and LNER at Doncaster Works, North British, Glasgow. The model features improved design and assembly over the previous batch, with more robust motion and valve gear.
