Prototype Eras
Era 3 (1923 to 1947) The Big Four (LNER, LMS, GWR and SR)
Era 4 (1948 to 1956) British Railways Early Crest
Introduced by the Great Northern Railway in 1921 to a design by Nigel Gresley, these powerful 2-8-0s were built to haul heavy mineral trains. Several batches were built over a 22 year period by the GNR and LNER, with numerous improvements such as better cabs and bigger tenders. Heljan's model depicts the later '02/3' and '0 2/4' variants.

The Heljan O2/2 'Tango' model is a representation of a 2-8-0 steam locomotive in British Railways black livery. This model is part of the OO gauge range and features a 21-pin socket for DCC operation. The model is designed to depict the O2/2 variant of the Gresley '02' class locomotives, which were built by the Great Northern Railway and later the London and North Eastern Railway between 1921 and 1943.
The model has a highly detailed cab interior and underframe, as well as sprung buffers and NEM couplings. The locomotive is equipped with a 21-pin socket, allowing for DCC operation. The model is supplied in pristine condition and has a length of 255mm.
The model is a representation of British Railways number 63938, a locomotive built in 1924 at Doncaster Works by the North British Locomotive Co. The model is a member of the 'Big Four' era, which saw the combination of four major railway companies in the UK: the Great Western Railway, the London, Midland and Scottish Railway, the London and North Eastern Railway, and the Southern Railway.
