The Bachmann Class 04 shunter D2264 is an OO gauge model in 1:76 scale, measuring 108 mm in length. It features a plastic and metal chassis with NEM pocket tension‑lock couplings and a tension lock coupling type. The model carries the prototype running number D2264 and is based on the British Rail Class 04 diesel‑mechanical shunter built between 1948 and 1962.
The prototype was a 0‑6‑0DM shunter built by Drewery Car Co., the Vulcan Foundry and Robert Stephenson & Hawthorns, with a total production run of 144 units. It was employed by British Rail as well as the Central Electricity Generating Board, the National Coal Board and various industrial railways for shunting duties, remaining in service until 1971.
The model was produced using tooling dated 1997 and is supplied by Bachmann. It is designed for use on standard OO gauge track with a minimum curve radius of 371 mm.
