The Bachmann OO-scale model represents a British Rail Class 04 diesel-mechanical shunter, carrying the running number D2294. The prototype was built by Drewery Car Co. at the Vulcan Foundry and later by Robert Stephenson & Hawthorns, entering service in 1948 and remaining in operation until 1971. The model depicts the locomotive in the early British Rail colour scheme used before the introduction of the TOPS system.
The locomotive measures 108 mm in length and features a plastic and metal chassis with NEM pocket couplings and a tension-lock coupling system. It has no directional or interior lighting and is supplied in a pristine condition.
