The model is a Bachmann OO gauge representation of a British Rail Class 04 diesel‑mechanical shunter, running number 11222. It replicates the prototype built between 1952 and 1962, originally constructed by Drewry Car Co. at Vulcan Foundry and later by Robert Stephenson & Hawthorns. The locomotive was used for shunting duties on British Railways and various industrial operators until 1971.
The model measures 108 mm in length, features a plastic and metal chassis, and uses NEM pocket couplings with tension‑lock couplers. It rides on a minimum 1st radius curve of 371 mm. The tooling dates back to 1997 and the product carries the manufacturer part number 31‑341.
