Accurascale has released a new OO gauge model of the Class 31 diesel locomotive in a Civil Engineers "Dutch" livery. The locomotive is built to a high level of detail and features a number of accurate and intricate components.

The model is built to a scale of 1:76.2 and is designed to run on 16.5mm track. It is DCC ready, with a 21-pin socket and features a heavy die-cast metal chassis. The model includes a number of detailed components, including footsteps, brake cylinders, speed recorder, and end brake rigging on the bogies.

The model features etched metal and plastic detail parts, including grab handles, steps, and wipers, as well as an etched metal roof grille and pre-painted nameplates. It also includes accurate miniature snowploughs, a full underbody battery box and air tank detail with pipework, and extra cab front details for Network Rail locomotives.

The model features a number of deluxe features, including a fully working scale speed roof fan that can be run on DC or DCC, and a PowerPack supercapacitor Stay-Alive system for uninterrupted power and flicker-free lighting and sound. The model is also available with factory-installed DCC sound, featuring an ESU LokSound V5 with a large EM2 style speaker and sugarcube style speaker.

The model's high-performance traction features include a high-quality 5-pole motor with two large flywheels and a helical gearbox for maximum performance and slow speed running. The model can achieve a scale top speed of 90mph and features wheel flange squeal on DCC sound fitted locomotives.

The fully detailed lighting pack includes directional lighting, lighting clusters with day and night-time settings, and switchable red and white marker lights. The model also features separately switched cab lighting and illuminated driver's desk with auto/off on movement.
