The Accurascale Class 31 locomotive in Railfreight Grey with Red Stripe livery is a highly-detailed OO gauge model representing the Class 31 diesel locomotive. The model is built to a scale of 1:76.2 and is designed for use on 16.5mm track. It features a heavy die-cast metal chassis and one truck (bogie) styles with separate footsteps, brake cylinders, speed recorder, and end brake rigging.

The model includes etched metal and plastic detail parts, such as grab handles, steps, wipers, and an etched metal roof grille. It also features etched metal pre-painted nameplates, plaques, and arrows, as well as accurate miniature snowploughs and a fully detailed underbody battery box/air tank with pipework. The model also includes fully sprung buffers, multiple pipework variations, and screw couplings, as well as Kinetic NEM coupler mounts at the correct height with mini-tension-lock couplers.

The locomotive features a working, scale speed roof fan that runs on both DC and DCC control, with the fan speed fully programmed to simulate accurate motion. It also includes a PowerPack supercapacitor Stay-Alive system for uninterrupted power and flicker-free lighting and sound. The model is DCC ready and features a 21-pin MTX socket, and a factory-installed DCC sound system with an ESU LokSound V5 and a large speaker is available.

The model's traction features include a high-quality 5-pole motor with two large flywheels and a helical gearbox for maximum performance and slow-speed running. The gearing is arranged to allow the locomotive to achieve a scale top speed of 90mph. The outer axles on the bogies are driven, and all wheel pickup is provided.

The lighting pack includes directional lighting, lighting clusters with day and night-time settings, switchable red and white marker lights, and separately switched cab lighting and illuminated driver's desk with auto/off on movement. The model meets the requirements for OO gauge track with a minimum radius curve of 438mm (2nd radius set-track).
