Accurascale Class 31/4 31402 is a 1:76.2 scale OO gauge model of a British Rail Class 31 diesel locomotive, reproduced in the BR blue TOPS livery. The model is built to a 16.5 mm track gauge and carries a pristine finish with interior lighting and a fully functional roof fan that operates on both DC and DCC.

The chassis is heavy die‑cast metal and features a single A1A‑A1A bogie design with separate footsteps, brake cylinders, speed recorder, end‑brake rigging and RP25‑110 profile wheels. Detailed etched metal and plastic parts include grab handles, steps, wipers, roof grille, nameplates and pre‑painted plaques. The locomotive is equipped with a 21‑pin MTX socket, Kinetic NEM coupler mounts with mini tension‑lock couplers and fully sprung buffers.

Power is supplied via all wheels using a high‑quality 5‑pole motor with two large flywheels, a helical gearbox and outer‑axle drive, allowing a scale top speed of 90 mph (145 km/h). The model incorporates Accurascale’s PowerPack supercapacitor Stay‑Alive system for uninterrupted power, flicker‑free lighting and continuous sound. DCC‑ready versions include factory‑installed ESU LokSound V5 with large EM2‑style and sugar‑cube speakers, wheel‑flange squeal sensors and programmable fan speed.

Lighting is fully detailed with directional clusters, separate day and night settings, switchable red and white marker lights, cab lighting and an illuminated driver’s desk that can be set to auto or off on movement. The minimum curve radius is 438 mm (radius 2) and the model represents the period 1957–1962.
