Accurascale's OO gauge model of Class 31/4 locomotive number 31409 is a highly detailed representation of a British Rail diesel locomotive. The model is built to a 1:76.2 scale and is designed to run on 16.5mm track.

The model features a heavy die-cast metal chassis, one truck bogie design, and RP25-110 profile wheels. Other details include etched metal and plastic parts, including grab handles, steps, wipers, and a pre-painted nameplate. The model also features a fully sprung buffer and multiple pipework variations.

The locomotive is DCC ready, with a 21-pin socket and a PowerPack supercapacitor Stay-Alive system for uninterrupted power and flicker-free lighting on DCC control. The model also features a factory-installed DCC sound option with an ESU LokSound V5 decoder and a large EM2 style speaker.

The locomotive is powered by a high-performance 5-pole motor with two large flywheels and a helical gearbox, allowing it to achieve a scale top speed of 90 mph. The locomotive also features directional lighting, lighting clusters with day and night-time settings, and switchable red and white marker lights.

The class 31 was built by Brush Traction between 1957 and 1962, and this model represents the locomotive in its BR Blue livery. The minimum radius of the model is 438mm, and it requires a second radius track set to operate smoothly.
