Accurascale has released a model of the Class 31/4 31420 Intercity Mainline Diesel Locomotive in OO gauge. The model is fitted with DCC and features a range of detailed components, including a heavy die-cast metal chassis, RP25-110 profile wheels, and etched metal/plastic detail parts.

The model is built to a 1:76.2 scale and is designed to run on 16.5mm track. It features a minimum radius curve of 438mm, or 2nd radius set-track, and has all wheels for power pickup. The model's coupling is a NEM/Tension lock type.

The model's build is based on the Brush Traction design, which was produced between 1957 and 1962. It represents the Class 31 locomotive and is set during the period of British Rail Sectorisation.

The model's deluxe features include a fully working, scale speed roof fan that runs on both DC and DCC, and a PowerPack supercapacitor Stay-Alive system for uninterrupted power and flicker-free lighting and sound. The model is also fitted with a wheel flange squeal sensor on DCC sound fitted locomotives for automatic flange squeal on the sound programme.

The model's high-performance features include a high-quality 5-pole motor with two large flywheels, a helical gearbox for maximum performance and slow-speed running, and gearing arranged to achieve a scale top speed of 90mph. The outer axles on the bogies are driven, and all wheel pickup is provided.

The fully detailed Lighting Pack features directional lighting, lighting clusters with day and night-time settings, switchable red and white marker lights, and separately switched cab lighting and illuminated driver's desk with auto/off on movement.
