Accurascale Class 31/4 (model number ACC2754‑31402DCC) is a 1:76.2 scale OO gauge replica of a British Rail Class 31 diesel locomotive, finished in the BR blue livery used during the TOPS era. The model represents locomotives built by Brush Traction between 1957 and 1962 and is equipped with a heavy die‑cast metal chassis, A1A‑A1A wheel arrangement and RP25‑110 profile wheels, all of which collect power from every wheel. The locomotive is fitted with a 21‑pin MTX DCC socket, factory‑installed ESU LokSound V5 sound module and a wheel‑flange squeal sensor, allowing realistic sound and motion on DCC layouts.

Key operational features include interior lighting, fully sprung buffers, NEM coupler mounts with tension‑lock hooks, and a PowerPack supercapacitor “Stay‑Alive” system that provides uninterrupted power, flicker‑free lighting and continuous sound. The model also has a working scale roof fan that operates on both DC and DCC, with fan speed automatically programmed on DCC control. A high‑quality 5‑pole motor with helical gearbox and dual flywheels enables the locomotive to reach a scale top speed of 90 mph (145 km/h).

The detailing is extensive, comprising etched metal and plastic components such as grab handles, steps, wipers, roof grille, nameplates and plaques; a full under‑body battery box and air tank with pipework; and separate cab lighting with an illuminated driver’s desk that switches on movement. Directional lighting offers day and night settings, with switchable red and white marker lights and separate cab illumination. The minimum curve radius is 438 mm (radius 2). The model is supplied in pristine condition, ready for use on OO gauge track.
