Rapido Trains UK has introduced a new OO gauge model of the Highland Railway's Loch Class 4-4-0 locomotive, specifically the HR Jones Lined Green No. 125 'Loch Tay'. This model is part of a larger range representing the Dübs & Co. built locos, including variations that reflect the changes made to the class throughout their lifetime.

The Loch Class was designed by David Jones, Locomotive Superintendent of the Highland Railway, in response to the need for a powerful passenger locomotive capable of traversing the challenging terrain of the Inverness to Perth line, including the Slochd Summit. The class was built between 1896 and 1897 by Dübs & Co., with a further three locos added in 1917 by The North British Locomotive Company during World War I.

The Loch Class was designed to produce 17,070 lbs of tractive effort, surpassing the Strath Class by almost 3,000 lbs. The class was named after inland Scottish lochs and went on to serve the Highland Railway and its successors, the London, Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS) and British Railways, until their eventual withdrawal between 1948 and 1950.

The new model features a range of detailing options, including different chimneys, domes, safety valves, smoke boxes, doors and darts, as well as lubricators, safety valve turrets, tender gongs, toolboxes, tablet catchers, whistle rods and lubricator pots. The model also includes a detailing bag containing items such as screw link couplings, steam heating pipes, front frames and guard irons, and some variants feature etched number plates.

The model is designed for operation on 2nd radius curves of 438mm or greater and features a smooth-running mechanism, factory-installed speakers, NEM coupler pockets, an ESU 21-pin decoder socket, tender pickups, and firebox flicker with a dynamic fire draw effect. The range includes models in a variety of liveries, from pre-grouping to British Railways days, as well as a 'What if' Highland Railway Yellow livery.
