Manufacturer description

This Six wheeled coach is a representation of the many which served on the London and North Western Railway (LNWR) in the late 19th and early 20th century.

Small coaches such as this six wheeled coach proved especially good at branch line work where their small size enabled the traversing of tight radius curves, whilst lower passenger numbers meant their small size was more acceptable and enabled trains to be hauled by smaller engines.

This LNWR coach is modelled as having step boards to enable access at stations with low platforms and oil lamp lighting.

Hornby LNWR 6 Wheel Coach, Brake 3rd Class, 7463 – Era 2 is a OO gauge model of a pre‑grouping London and North Western Railway carriage. It is finished in a pristine red livery and carries the operator’s livery and running number 7463. The model measures 160 mm in length, has a minimum curve radius of 438 mm (2nd radius), and is equipped with NEM/tension‑lock couplings.

The coach represents a six‑wheel, third‑class brake carriage that would have been used on LNWR branch lines in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Its compact size allowed it to negotiate tight curves and operate with smaller locomotives where passenger numbers were low. The model includes step boards for low‑platform access and oil‑lamp lighting detail.

No power pickup is fitted, and the manufacturer part number is R40075. The design is credited to the LNWR, and the model is intended for collectors of historic British railway equipment.
