Dapol is set to produce a range of OO gauge GWR Toplight Mainline City coaches in chocolate and cream livery. These coaches are designed to be companions to the new Dapol 61xx Prairie 2-6-2 locomotive. The coaches feature highly accurate injection moulded bodies, bolection window mouldings and frosted Toplight windows. They also include separate metal door and commode handles, wire end handrails and separately applied end communication details.

The coaches have a highly detailed chassis with vacuum tanks, battery boxes and brake linkages. They also feature 9ft bogie bolsters with diecast side frames and split axles for electrical pickup. The interior is highly detailed with period-specific decorations. The coaches are capable of negotiating R2 radius curves and feature sprung metal buffers, internal lighting and a directional tail lamp. They can be optionally DCC fitted with a six-pin decoder.

The GWR Toplight Mainline City coaches were built at Swindon Works between 1920 and 1921, following an initial order placed in 1915 that was delayed due to World War I. Six sets of coaches were produced, each comprising six cars. The coaches were designed to be close-coupled and featured a steel body. They were 7 inches lower than other contemporary coaches due to the restrictive loading gauge of the London Underground tunnels. The coaches were originally used for commuter traffic from Reading and Windsor into the City of London, but were later used on longer-distance services after World War II. They were withdrawn from service in 1957 and some were converted into workmen's coaches for a branch line in South Wales.
