The Dapol GWR Toplight Mainline City Lined Crimson Third Brake Coach Set 1 is a new model of a pair of coaches from the renowned British manufacturer. The coaches are modelled in the distinctive GWR crimson lake livery and feature a highly detailed injection moulded body with accurate bolection window mouldings and frosted Toplight windows.

The model is designed to be a companion to the Dapol 61xx Prairie 2-6-2 locomotive and will be available in all third, composite, and brake third coach configurations. The coaches feature a range of details, including separate metal door and commode handles, wire end handrails, and separately applied end communication details.

The chassis of the model is highly detailed, with vacuum tanks, battery boxes, and brake linkages all accurately represented. The bogie design features a 9ft bolster with diecast side frames and split axles for electrical pickup. The interior of the coaches is also highly detailed, with period-specific decorations applied.

The model features a range of technical specifications, including kinematic couplings with NEM pockets, allowing for close coupling, and the ability to negotiate R2 radius curves. The coaches also feature sprung metal buffers, internal lighting, and a directional tail lamp. The model is capable of being DCC fitted with a six pin decoder, such as the Dapol Imperium Four.

The real-life coaches that the model is based on were built by Swindon Works between 1920 and 1921, and were originally used for commuter traffic on the Great Western Railway. They were later converted into workmen's coaches for the miners' service in South Wales. The last three coaches in service were preserved and are now on display at Didcot Railway Centre.
