The Accurascale Class 89 model is a highly detailed OO scale representation of the BR Class 89 'Badger' prototype electric locomotive. The model features a 1:76.2 scale representation of the locomotive's six-axle bogies and pantograph, which can be raised or lowered almost silently under DC or DCC control.

The model measures a minimum radius of 438mm and features a die-cast metal chassis, RP25-110 profile OO wheels, and separately-applied etched metal/plastic detail parts. It also includes scale width wire handrails, a fully sprung metal buffer and bufferplate, and a dummy knuckle coupler.

The model is DCC ready and features a PowerPack capacitor for uninterrupted power, a customised Dual-Speaker Technology, and a hall sensor for a flange squeal effect. It also includes a five-pole motor with two flywheels, a metal helical gearbox, and all-wheel drive and pickup.

The model comes with a fully detailed lighting pack, featuring directional lighting, switchable red and white marker lights, and separately switched cab lighting and illuminated driver's desk. The model is available in a limited edition of 500 models, each individually numbered.

The Class 89 was a unique locomotive designed by Brush Traction and constructed by British Rail Engineering Ltd at Crewe Works in 1986. It was used as a test bed between 1986 and 1988, before being delivered in the InterCity Executive scheme and later repainted in the new Swallow livery in 1988. The locomotive was named 'Avocet' and continued in service until 1992, when it was side-lined following a failure. It was subsequently preserved and has undergone several changes in ownership and livery, before being restored to operational condition by the AC Locomotive Group.

The Accurascale model is a highly detailed representation of the Class 89 and is a must-have for any model railway enthusiast. Its high level of detail and advanced features make it a standout model in the OO scale range.
